Optimisation

We provide 2 main types of optimisation service. Either we produce an optimisation report, which details all of the items that require to be completed and we give that to the website developers to implement, or we complete the optimisation report and then complete the implementation ourselves. In the latter case, the optimisation report serves to provide documentation as to what items were completed as part of the optimisation work.

The aim of this optimisation work is to raise the profile of the web site and try to make sure that it starts to appear in top positions for the keywords that were deemed relevant as a result of the keyword analysis.

Website Optimisation Report

The optimisation report often draws from the research completed in the SEO Audit and Keyword Analysis and provides a detailed list of optimisation amendments to be completed for each individual page (or main page) within the web site.

These optimisation amendments will invariably consist of, but are not restricted to, the following:

• Make sure that search engines can crawl across the entire website and that there are no indexing issues.
• Make sure that basics are covered such as Google, Yahoo and Bing vertification, XML sitemaps and that HTML and CSS code validates correctly.
• Make sure that some form of Web Analytics software is in place and accessible to us so that we can see the visitor statistics to use for benchmarking and further analysis. For most websites we would recommend on installing Google Analytics.
• Detail on-page optimisation updates to be carried out, initially of focusing on title tags, meta data, alt tags and site headings on each page (or main page) of the website.
• Review the copy displayed on each page (or main page) and advise on any changes, updates or additional copy required.
• Review the structure of the website and any areas that require modification, such as page URLs or where there are duplicate content issues.
• Include whether internal linking between pages can be improved on what specifically should be implemented.
• Advise on any other areas of the site that may require attention or cause search engines to not respond favourably to the website.

Once this report has been completed it is handed to your site developers for implementation. We often discuss certain points with the developers to ensure that there is no ambiguity in what action we are recommending, especially in the case of any site structure modifications that are required.

It should be noted that your site developers will normally charge for their part in implementation the optimisation work. On occasion, it is necessary to prioritise the optimisation work or split it up into individual sections if there is a large amount of optimisation to be carried out.

Once the optimisation work has been implemented, we will return to the website and check that everything documented in the report has been carried out. After 2 or 3 weeks we will also check that the search engines have picked up on the optimsation work completed.

Optimisation Implementation

For some clients, we also carry out the implementation of the optimisation report, either because there is not a development company in place, or because the updates specified in the report can be completed through a content management system.

In this case, the optimisation report serves to document all the items that are completed as part of the optimisation work.

Once the optimisation work has been implemented, we will return to the website and check that everything documented in the report has been carried out. After 2 or 3 weeks we will also check that the search engines have picked up on the optimsation work completed.
