Formettā was undergoing a full rebrand, with a new Shopify website being developed by a digital agency. As an independent testing company, WebDepend was brought in to carry out thorough testing of the new site before launch. The goal was to identify as many bugs as possible and ensure the site was ready to go live, with particular attention given to the checkout flow and payment processing.
Usability was also a concern for the Formettā team. They wanted WebDepend to dedicate a meaningful portion of the engagement to detailed usability testing, ensuring that the new site not only functioned correctly but delivered a smooth and intuitive experience for their customers.
WebDepend carried out seven days of exploratory testing in early March 2026, covering a broad range of testing types across the site. Exploratory testing was chosen as the most effective approach for uncovering as many issues as possible within the available time. The testing covered:
Compatibility testing covered the major desktop browsers -Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox - on both Windows 11 and macOS. Mobile and tablet testing was carried out across iPhone and iPad on iOS/iPadOS, and Android smartphone and tablet devices. Accessibility testing was not within the scope of this engagement.
All bugs identified during testing were logged and assigned to Formettā's digital agency through WebDepend’s own bug tracking solution, Testing Manager, to which the agency was given direct access.
WebDepend raised 81 bugs in total across the testing engagement, covering a wide range of severity levels and issue types.
All bugs were tracked and assigned directly to the development agency via Testing Manager, giving the team a clear and structured view of outstanding issues throughout the project.
Of the 81 bugs raised during testing, 68 were resolved before the site launched - including the single critical issue and 10 major issues. This gave Formettā a high level of confidence in the quality and performance of the new site ahead of going live.
The testing enabled Formettā to launch the new Shopify site successfully. The team were particularly pleased that the checkout flow and payment processing had been fully tested and verified, and that usability and site performance had been properly assessed. The identification and resolution of the critical home page usability issue was a key outcome, ensuring that customers would encounter a clear and compelling experience from their first interaction with the brand.
Formettā were very happy with the issues found and the overall testing completed, reflecting the value that WebDepend's independent and thorough testing brought to their Shopify ecommerce project.
